BASF Builds Automotive Coatings Plant at Shanghai

BASF announced today that BASF Shanghai Coatings, a joint venture between BASF and Shanghai Coatings, will build a new base-coat plant, which will serve the automotive market, at China's Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. The new plant, due onstream in the first half of 2014, will increase the company’s local production capacity for base coats by 13,500 m.t./year.   The project will strengthen BASF’s position as a leading coatings supplier to the automotive industry in China, the company says.
