Arkema swings to profit, confirms midterm outlook despite lower sales

Arkema made €112 million ($148.6 million) in net profit during the second quarter compared with a €12-million loss in the same period last year, the company announced today. Ebitda was down about 11% during the second quarter, to €273 million, from €306 the year before. Sales, at €1.63 billion, were down 5.2% during the second quarter compared with the same quarter a year before. The decrease in sales figures came despite a decrease in certain raw material costs and a 3.5% increase in sales volumes mainly driven by coating solutions...
