World News and Views :: Top of the News Agrium Earnings Rise 43%11:00 AM MST | February 8, 2012 | Vincent Valk Agrium today reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $193 million, or $1.20/share, up 43% from the year-ago period. Excluding a $134 million loss from discontinued operations, fourth-quarter earnings totaled $327 million, or $2.04/share. Discontinued operations included a charge for misappropriated inventory related AWB’s commodity management business, which Agrium sold in May 2011. Agrium’s total sales were $3.18 billion for the fourth-quarter of 2011, up 32% year-on-year. Sales in the company’s retail segment rose 38%, to $1.8 billion...
