ExxonMobil Chemical Files Permits for Ethane Cracker and Two PE Units in Texas

ExxonMobil Chemical has filed permits with EPA and the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for a multibillion-dollar project that includes building an ethane cracker at Baytown, TX and two high-performance polyethylene (PE) lines at the company’s nearby Mont Belvieu, TX plastics plant. The cracker would have a capacity of up to 1.5 million m.t./year of ethylene, which would be used as a feedstock for the new PE units, each with a capacity of about 650,000 m.t./year.
