(Tokyo) has recorded a 41% rise in net profits for its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, 2011, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥8.5 billion ($109 million). Sales decreased 2.7%, to ¥191.5 billion, mainly due to the appreciation of the Japanese currency, DIC says. The printing inks & supplies business segment of the company reported a 9% fall in first-quarter sales, compared with the year-ago period, to ¥93.3 billion.
