ZeaChem starts production of commercial-grade cellulosic chemicals

ZeaChem (Lakewood, CO) says it has successfully produced commercial-grade cellulosic chemicals and ethanol at its 250,000-gal/year demonstration biorefinery at Boardman, OR. ZeaChem’s facility is employing its C2 platform to produce cellulosic-based ethanol and intermediate chemicals such as acetic acid and ethyl acetate. The technology platform can also create C3 chemicals including propionic acid, ethyl propionate, propanol, and propylene.
