Westlake to Boost Vinyls Capacity

Westlake says it will invest approximately $90 million to expand capacity and enhance integration of its Calvert City, KY vinyls manufacturing complex by the second half of 2009. The investment includes a 300-million lbs/year expansion of the site’s polyvinyl chlorine (PVC) resin capacity by the first half of 2009. This expansion will use vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) currently being sold by Westlake on the merchant market, the company says.
