World News and Views :: Projects Wacker Chemie Confirms Plans for Polysilicon Plant2:29 PM MDT | July 21, 2008 | Natasha Alperowicz Wacker Chemie has confirmed CW’s exclusive report that it will build a world-scale polysilicon plant to keep up with burgeoning customer demand (CW, April 28, p. 21). The company has started a “new site selection process,” Rudolf Staudigl, Wacker CEO, told investors in Frankfurt earlier this month. Wacker is considering about “half a dozen” locations worldwide and plans to make a selection for the new facility, dubbed Poly 9, within 12 months.
