World News and Views :: Projects Wacker Builds Biologics12:43 PM MDT | April 3, 2009 Wacker Chemie says it will develop its biologics operation at Jena, Germany as part of a strategy to expand the company’s fine chemicals business. The Jena facility specializes in using microbial systems, mainly E-coli, for the production of biologics. Wacker is investing about €15 million ($20 million) to expand the operation including a recently opened new process-development unit for pharmaceutical proteins.
