World News and Views :: Projects Wacker Adds Biologics Capacity in Germany12:35 PM MST | November 9, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Wacker Chemie says it will invest €15 million ($22 million) to expand biopharmaceuticals operations at Jena, Germany. The investment will involve building a manufacturing unit that will go online at the end of 2009, and a center for process development and quality control that is scheduled for completion in late 2008. “The new facilities will enable us to greatly accelerate our growth in the attractive biologics market,” says Gerhard Schmid, president of Wacker Fine Chemicals, the group’s biotechnology and fine chemicals division.
