World News and Views :: Projects Uhde to Supply Chlorine Unit to Erco in the U.S.9:48 AM MST | February 25, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Uhde Corp. (Bridgeville, PA), the U.S. subsidiary of Uhde, says it has been awarded a contract to supply a membrane-process, chlor-alkali plant to Erco Worldwide, a division of Superior Plus Income Fund (Calgary, AB) at Erco’s Port Edwards, WI facility. Erco is spending $95 million to convert a mercury-cell plant at Port Edwards to membrane technology under a plan announced last year. The new plant will use Uhde’s single element BM2.7 bipolar membrane-cell electrolyzers and have capacity to produce 317 m.t./day of chlorine. Completion is expected in...
