U.K. Offers £20 Million ($31 Million) Prize to Boost Carbon Capture Innovation

U.K. government energy secretary Edward Davey has launched a competition worth up to £20 million to fund the development of innovations in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. Bids are being invited to develop better and cheaper CCS components and systems for pilot scale demonstration. These will support the development of CCS, which the U.K. government says is crucial to its plans to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in order to meet its climate change targets.
