Total and Three Indian Energy Firms Study Petchem Complex

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd (HPCL; Mumbai) says it has signed a joint memorandum of understanding with Total, Gail India (New Delhi), Oil India Ltd. (OIL; New Delhi), and Mittal Energy to launch a feasibility study for a project to build an integrated refining and petrochemicals complex at Visakhapatnam in southeastern India. HPCL and Gail announced the project earlier this year but did not name Total, OIL, and Mittal Energy as their partners (CW, Aug. 15/22, p. 16).
