Total Begins to Prequalify Contractors for Algeria Complex

A 51-49 joint venture between Total Petrochemicals and Sonatrach (Algiers) plans to award technology and design contracts in the second half of this year for a previously announced $3-billion petrochemical complex at Arzew, Algeria, local reports say. The jv announced earlier this year that it would delay the project’s completion by two years, to 2014 (CW, Jan. 26, p. 14).
