World News and Views :: Projects Tosoh to expand Nanyo No.3 vinyl chloride monomer plant by 50%11:20 PM MDT | November 1, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Tosoh Corp. plans to increase capacity at its No.3 vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) unit at the Nanyo, Japan complex by 50% to 600,000 m.t./year at a cost of ¥5 billion ($63 million). The company said earlier that it was considering the move, following a November 2011 fire, which severely damaged the company’s No.2 VCM plant, designed to produce 550,000 m..t/year. The unit has been shut since the fire. Tosoh’s No.1 VCM plant, designed to produce 250,000 m.t./year, is continuing to operate. The company considered restarting No.2 VCM unit but...
