Toray Plastics to build additional power system at Rhode Island site

Toray says it will build a second cogeneration system at its 70-acre North Kingstown, RI, site. The system, which is expected to be operational by March 2014, will power production for the company’s Torayfan polypropylene (PP) film division as well as other sites around the property, the company says. The  $22.7-million investment, which will allow Toray to operate off the local power grid and prevent the electrical power outages that can occur with conventional power plants, will reduce the company's demand on the supply of electricity to nearby...
