Süd-Chemie and LG Chem Form Lithium Iron Phosphate JV (Update)

Süd-Chemie, part of the Clariant group, and LG Chem say they have today signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture for high volume production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP), a cost effective and eco-friendly cathode material for use in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. "The jv will jointly manufacture LFP. The new jv LFP plant will be located in Korea, but the exact location of the plant has not yet been decided," LG Chem tells CW.
