Soda Ash JV Planned for Saudi Arabia

General Chemical Soda Ash Partners (GCSAP) and S&A Abahsain (Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia) say they will form a joint venture to build a 1-million m.t./year soda ash facility in Saudi Arabia. Two sites are under evaluation for the facility, says a company source. The jv expects to bring capacity online in two stages of 500,000 m.t./year each, the first of which is expected to become operational in the second half of 2010 or early 2011.
