World News and Views :: Projects Sipchem Starts Commercial Production of CO and Acetic Acid5:02 AM MDT | June 7, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) has announced the commercial start-up of two units within its acetyls complex at Jubail. The company has started production at its 345,000 m.t./year carbon monoxide (CO) plant and at a 450,000- m.t./year acetic acid unit. Some of the CO will be used as raw material for acetic acid production. The rest will be utilized in other future products. The two units form part of Sipchem's phase 2 development plan.
