Sinopec and PetroChina Negotiate Mideast Ethylene JV

Sinopec and PetroChina are in discussions with state-owned companies in the Mideast with a view to establishing an ethylene joint venture in the region, according to a recent report in Hong Kong newspaper the South China Morning Post. The report cites sources at Sinopec and PetroChina. Other Chinese firms may also be participating in the talks, reports in other Chinese journals say. The project would involve an investment of about $5 billion, reports say. Possible Mideast partners include Kuwait Petroleum, Sabic, and Saudi Aramco, reports add. Potential locations...
