Showa Denko and Antam to Invest $450 Million to Build Chemical Alumina Plant in Indonesia

Showa Denko and mining company Antam (Jakarta) have agreed to invest $450 million to build a chemical alumina plant in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The decision has been made based on the results of a joint feasibility study, Showa Denko says. Construction of the plant, which will have the capacity to produce 300,000 m.t./year of chemical alumina, will begin in January 2011 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
