Shintech Expands Chlor-Alkali Plant

Shintech (Houston) says it has selected HPD (Plainfield, IL) to supply a salt crystallization plant and a caustic soda concentration system as part of an expansion of Shintech’s chlor-alkali facility at Plaquemine, LA. The system will use the world’s largest, single-stage evaporated salt crystallizer, Shintech says. The expansion will double output of the facility, the company says. Current capacity is for 1 billion lbs/year of chlorine and 1.1 billion lbs/year of caustic soda, feeding separate units with capacity for 1.3 billion lbs/year of polyvinyl...
