Shin-Etsu to Build Rare Earth Plant

Shin-Etsu Chemical says it will build a rare earth separation and refining plant in TechnoPort Fukui, Sakai, Japan. The company will spend ¥2 billion ($16.8 million) to build the plant, which will have capacity to produce 1,000 m.t./year of rare earth oxide. Completion is due in early 2008. Shin-Etsu says it is considering further expansion of the plant as well as construction of downstream...
