World News and Views :: Projects Samsung Engineering Awarded Dow-Mitsui Chlor-Alkali Plant Contract2:07 AM MST | January 11, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz Samsung Engineering today signed a $411 million contract to build a previously announced chlor-alkali complex for Dow-Mitsui Chlor-Alkali LLC, a joint venture between Dow Chemical and Mitsui. The plant will be designed to produce 816,000 m.t./year of chlorine and will be built at at Freeport, TX. It will be based on Dow Chemical's technology. The lump-sum turnkey contract covers engineering, procurement and construction of the facility, which is scheduled for mechanical completion in January 2013.
