World News and Views :: Projects SGL and BMW Link in Carbon Fiber JV for Automotive Industry; Plants Planned in North America, Germany2:01 AM MDT | October 30, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz SGL Group (Wiesbaden, Germany) and the BMW Group have announced plans to form a joint venture to manufacture carbon fibers and fabrics for the automotive industry. Separately, SGL and Mitsubishi Rayon will establish a joint venture to produce polyacrylonitrile (PAN), the precursor in carbon fibers manufacture, to supply the automotive carbon fiber production joint venture.
