Reliance to Construct Cyclohexane Plant

Reliance Industries says it has awarded Axens a technology and basic engineering contract for a 40,000-m.t./year, high-purity cyclohexane plant, which will be built at Reliance’s Hazira, India petrochemicals complex. The unit will hydrogenate benzene using Axens’s proprietary two-step process technology, which employs low-temperature, liquid-phase homogeneous catalysis followed by gas-phase heterogeneous catalysts, Axens says.
