Qapco Awards LDPE Plant Contract to Uhde

Qatar Petrochemical Co. (Qapco), an 80-20 joint venture between Industries Qatar and Total Petrochemicals, has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Uhde to build a previously announced low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Mesaieed, Qatar. The plant will be designed to produce 300,000 m.t./year and use the LyondellBasell LDPE technology. Completion is scheduled for December 2011.
