Petrobras Picks Stone & Webster Cracker Technology

The Shaw Group says that its Stone & Webster energy and chemicals unit has secured contracts to provide proprietary ethylene technology for a previously announced 1-million m.t./year plant to be built near Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras and a group of yet to be named investors plan to build the Complejo Petroquimico Rio de Janeiro (Comperj) facility, which will include ethylene and derivatives units, the first of which is slated to begin operation in 2012.
