World News and Views :: Projects Mitsubishi Rayon Ups Carbon Fiber Capacity11:57 AM MDT | September 7, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Mitsubishi Rayon says it will spend ¥12 billion ($105 million) to build a 2,700-m.t./year carbon fiber plant at Otake, Japan. The plant, due onstream in the fourth quarter of 2009, will raise Mitsubishi Rayon’s overall carbon fiber capacity in Japan by 50%. The company’s only existing production plant in Japan is at Toyohashi. Mitsubishi Rayon’s global carbon fiber capacity will rise to 10,850 m.t./year with completion of the Otake...
