Mitsubishi Rayon Ups Carbon Fiber Capacity

Mitsubishi Rayon says it will spend ¥12 billion ($105 million) to build a 2,700-m.t./year carbon fiber plant at Otake, Japan. The plant, due onstream in the fourth quarter of 2009, will raise Mitsubishi Rayon’s overall carbon fiber capacity in Japan by 50%.
