World News and Views :: Projects Methanex Shuts More Units in Chile12:52 PM MDT | July 30, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Methanex says it has shut down two more methanol units at its Punta Arenas, Chile site due to shortages in natural gas supplied from Argentina. A labor dispute is affecting one Argentinian natural gas supplier, and technical testing is being conducted by another, the company says.Methanex shut down its 925,000-m.t./year methanol unit, one of the four units at the Punta Arenas site, last month because of gas shortages and this unit remains down (CW, May 9, p. 51).
