Merck KGaA Adds R&D Center

Merck KGaA (Darmstadt, Germany) says it will invest €47 million ($72 million) to build a new R&D center at Darmstadt for its chemical activities that will include laboratories and pilot production facilities. The investment is the company’s largest in chemical R&D to date. Merck will begin construction in June, with completion scheduled for the end of 2009.
