World News and Views :: Projects Lucite Negotiates MMA Venture in Saudi Arabia12:02 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Lucite International (Southampton, U.K.) says it has signed a preliminary agreement with Saudi International Petrochemical (Sipchem; Al Khobar) to build a methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The plant would have capacity for 250,000 m.t./year of MMA and be completed in 2011, Lucite says. It would receive carbon monoxide and methanol feedstock from Sipchem, which is building an acetyls complex at Al Jubail. Sipchem is also planning an ethylene plant (CW, May 16, pp. 8, 15).
