Lenzing Forms Carbon Fiber JV with SGL and Kelheim

Lenzing subsidiary Lenzing Plastics says it has formed a joint venture with carbon fiber producer SGL Carbon (Weisbaden, Germany) and Kelheim Fibres (Kelheim, Germany) to produce primary materials for carbon fibers, including polyacrylonitrile, at Kelheim. The jv, named European Precursor, is expected to start operations this year, pending regulatory approval.
