World News and Views :: Projects Lenzing Forms Carbon Fiber JV with SGL and Kelheim12:13 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Alex Scott Lenzing subsidiary Lenzing Plastics says it has formed a joint venture with carbon fiber producer SGL Carbon (Weisbaden, Germany) and Kelheim Fibres (Kelheim, Germany) to produce primary materials for carbon fibers, including polyacrylonitrile, at Kelheim. The jv, named European Precursor, is expected to start operations this year, pending regulatory approval. The jv partners will invest a combined total of approximately €50 million ($105 million) over the “medium term” into European Precursor’s operations, Lenzing says. The jv is expected...
