World News and Views :: Projects Lanxess Hikes Butyl Rubber Capacity in Belgium7:45 AM MDT | June 29, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Lanxess says it will invest €20 million to expand capacity of its Zwijndrecht, Belgium butyl rubber plant by 14,000 m.t./year from the current capacity of about 135,000 m.t./year. The expansion will take place during a scheduled turnaround in the third quarter of 2011 with completion expected in the second quarter of 2012. "Overall demand for butyl rubber has returned to pre-crisis levels already this year," says Axel C. Heitmann, chairman of Lanxess.
