World News and Views :: Projects Lanxess Begins Construction of Butyl Rubber Plant in Singapore10:29 PM MDT | May 16, 2010 | Deepti Ramesh Lanxess says it has broken ground on the previously announced new butyl rubber plant at Jurong Island, Singapore. The 100,000-m.t./year plant, with an investment of about €400 million ($575 million), is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2013. Lanxess, in January 2010, brought forward its plans to build the butyl rubber facility, which had been delayed twice due to falling demand. The plant was originally due onstream in 2010.
