Kuraray to Expand Poval Film Facility

Kuraray says it will expand production facilities of optical-use poval film, which serves as a base film for polarized film, an essential component of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), at the company’s plant at Saijo, Japan. Kuraray will invest ¥5 billion ($56 million) to increase the capacity by 20 million sq meters/year, and the expansion is expected to come onstream by the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
