Kinder Morgan invests $58 million in methanol storage, terminal buy

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (KMP) has announced plans to invest approximately $58 million to expand chemical storage capacity. The sum includes construction of methanol storage capacity in support of Methanex’s Geismar, LA, methanol project and the acquisition of a terminal facility in South Carolina from Quality Carriers. KMP has signed a long-term contract with Methanex, which is relocating a 1-million m.t./year methanol plant from Chile. KMP will build, own, and operate the new storage tanks and related infrastructure at its Geismar terminal. KMP says...
