World News and Views :: Projects Kayan, Sadara, and SAAC form jv to build world's largest butanol plant12:54 PM MST | December 26, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Saudi Kayan, Sadara, and Saudi Acrylic Acid Co. (SAAC) today signed an agreement to establish the Saudi Butanol Co., which will produce butanol to support growth of the paints and coatings industry in Saudi Arabia. The previously announced project will be designed to produce 330,000 m.t./year of n-butanol and 11,000 m.t./year of isobutanol, and will cost an estimated 1.94 billion Saudi riyals ($517.1 million).
