World News and Views :: Projects Japan's JSR Forms Venture to Build SSBR Plant in Thailand1:05 PM MST | March 9, 2011 | Ian Young JSR Corp. (Tokyo) and Bangkok Synthetics (BST) say they have agreed to form a 51-49 joint venture that will build a solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) plant at Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The plant will have a capacity of 50,000 m.t.-100,000 m.t./year and is due to start operating in June 2013. It will be based on JSR technology and BST will supply the unit with "a crucial raw material," JSR says. Demand for SSBR is surging due to labeling regulations for fuel-efficient tires, JSR says.
