World News and Views :: Projects Iraq Holds Talks to Build Two Petrochemical Complexes1:41 PM MDT | September 14, 2007 | Natasha Alperowicz Dow Chemical and Shell are in talks with the Iraqi government on a project to rebuild and expand a petrochemical complex near Basra in southern Iraq, at a cost of more than $2 billion, says Fawzi Al-Hariri, Iraq’s industry and minerals minister. Iraq wants to evaluate which products to make for the domestic and export markets, either by creating a joint venture or establishing a profit-sharing arrangement, he says.
