World News and Views :: Projects Indian Firm Plans PET Plant at BP Site in Belgium6:53 AM MDT | May 27, 2011 | Ian Young Polyester manufacturer JBF Industries (Mumbai) says its JBF RAK subsidiary has signed a preliminary agreement with BP to build a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant at BP's Geel, Belgium complex. BP would supply purified terephthalic acid (PTA) from its Geel plant to the planned PET unit, under the terms of the agreement. JBF RAK's PET unit at Geel would have capacity to produce 390,000 m.t./year and it is due to start operating in 2014. BP says it has 1.4 million m.t./year of PTA capacity and 600,000 m.t./year of para-xylene capacity at Geel. JBF announced... This information is only available to Chemical Week subscribers.
