Idemitsu Kosan and Mitsui & Co. plan alpha-olefins project in the US (Update)

Idemitsu Kosan and Mitsui & Co. have signed an agreement to commence studies to produce linear alpha-olefins in the United States. The partners plan to set up a 50-50 joint venture to build a world-scale alpha-olefins plant, which should commence production in 2016. The plant will have a capacity of 330,000 m.t./year. Idemitsu and Mitsui have also reached an initial agreement with Dow Chemical covering the procurement of ethylene feedstock for the production of alpha-olefins and the supply of part of the output to Dow.
