Idemitsu Kosan and Mitsui & Co. cancel plans for US alpha olefins project

Idemitsu Kosan and Mitsui & Co. have decided not to proceed with their proposed, equally owned, linear alpha olefins joint venture project in the United States. The companies announced last year that they were studying a project to build a 330,000-m.t./year plant to take advantage of low cost ethylene feedstock in the country and planned to locate the facility at Dow Chemical’s Freeport, TX, site.
