World News and Views :: Projects Huntsman Advances U.S. Maleic Anhydride Plant1:22 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Robert Westervelt Huntsman broke ground last week on its previously announced 100-million lb/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant at Geismar, LA (CW, March 15, p. 28). The investment is $125 million, and the facility will come online in fourth-quarter 2008, the company says. MA should continue to grow at a greater rate than GDP, Huntsman says. “Growth will continue in applications such as unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), butanediol and textiles,” says Huntsman CEO Peter Huntsman.
