World News and Views :: Projects Hunton Energy in Talks with Dow for Gasification Plant2:08 PM MST | December 14, 2007 | Rebecca Coons Hunton Energy and Dow Chemical signed a memorandum of understanding under which Hunton will build and operate a synthetic natural gas (SNG) plant at Dow’s Freeport, TX site. The proposed 15-year agreement calls for Hunton Energy to produce SNG and use steam turbines to produce additional power from its by-product steam. The steam produced will be consumed by Dow, and 100% of the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will be captured and sold for use in oil recovery, the companies say.
