Honam’s Qatar Ethylene JV Delayed Another Year

Qatar Intermediate Holdings (QIH; Doha) and Honam Petrochemical (Seoul) have delayed by another year the start up of a previously announced olefins joint venture in Qatar, according to local news reports quoting Honam president Chong Bum-shick. The jv will start up in early 2013, the reports say. The project is “on suspension,” Chong says. The partners are reassessing the jv’s cost, which was originally estimated at $2.6 billion, he says.
