Formosa Refinery Blaze Shuts Down Part of Mailiao Complex (Updated)

Formosa Petrochemicals Corp. has shut down its 540,000 bbl/day refinery at Mailiao, Taiwan, following a fire at the weekend, according to a company spokesman. The closure has affected one-third of Formosa's production capacity. The fire started at the company's residue desulfurization (RDS) unit in Formosa's second refinery at Mailiao.
