World News and Views :: Projects ExxonMobil Chemical Starts up its Largest Para-xylene Plant, Following Expansion7:04 AM MST | November 30, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz ExxonMobil Chemical has announced the completion and start up of an expansion at its Rotterdam aromatics complex. The expansion has made this plant, ExxonMobil's largest para-xylene production facility, the company says. Capacity of the para-xylene plant was raised by 25% to 700,000 m.t./year and benzene capacity increased by 20% to 830,000 m.t./year. The investment forms part of ExxonMobil Chemical's strategy to develop world-scale, highly integrated chemical facilities with globally competitive cost structures, the company says.
