Evonik to build amino acid production unit at Mobile, AL

Mepron helps dairy cows produce more milk without additional crude protein in their feed. Evonik Industries announced on 12 August that it will construct a methionine production plant at Mobile, AL, to meet growth opportunities for the amino acid in dairy cow nutrition applications. The “low double-digit million-euro range” investment will specifically add capacity for Mepron, Evonik’s methionine product that is encapsulated in a patented blend of fibers that protect the methionine from degrading in the cow’s rumen.
