Evonik Plans to Build MMA Plant in U.S.

Evonik Industries says it has started basic planning for a new large-scale methyl methacrylate (MMA) production plant at the company’s Mobile, AL site using the company’s Aveneer process.  The investment in the project will exceed €100 million ($129 million) , Evonik says. The plant, with a production capacity of 120,000 m.t./year, is expected to come onstream in the middle of 2015. The project is awaiting the approval of the relevant bodies, the company says.
